I have too many to all put here, but my strongest memory was walking back from school (1/2 mile away...not far) and coming in through the side door, smelling what my mom made for dinner. Since I had track practice every day, I usually came back just before dinner, so it always smelled so good when I came in. Another memory I have is mowing the lawn once every week, each time cutting it a different way. Also, I tried to get it done faster every time. Eventually, I managed to do both the front and back lawns in a little an hour and a half.

Going way back, I remember making forts in the backyard using logs and all the spare lumber leftover from previous projects. I planned on making a huge two story fort, but I never came around to making one, for it was too expensive. Maybe this was the beginning of my interest in architecture.

One thing is for certain, upkeeping the house, such as reglazing the windows, replacing rotten wood members in doors, and applying WD-40 to squeaky door hinges made me respect the house so much, and respect my great grandfather's craftsmenship. I know these wer the beginnings of my interst in Historic Preservation, for I wanted to be sure I would maintain the house correctly.
