We took the inside down to the studs of the house and
replaced everything. Plumbing, Electrical, Walls, everything you can
think of was replaced. Chimney was taken out and replaced with a direct
vent system. On the verge of replacing siding and foundation.

| Changes to House | House was a grist mill renovated to a home in 1900s. It was used as a tea room during the 1920s and fell into disuse after the stock market crash in 1929. Major restoration was done by the Cornell Architecture School in 1936. |

I moved to this house when I
was about 19 with my family, which consisted of me, my younger brother,
older sister and mom and dad. We all had our own bedrooms, but our
family grew over the years, as families do! My sister had a baby who
lived with us for a year until they both moved out and my grandfather
came to live with us and moved into our basement. He was a stroke
victim confined to a wheelchair for over 10 years. He finally passed
away in 2004, but NOT in the house. He had died in the hospital after
suffering with many ailments over the years. |

interior woodwork stripped and refinished, back deck built by my dad

I was only 2 or so when we moved in, but I remember
tripping over our cat and scraping up my knee pretty bad, washing
dishes on a chair in the kitchen (was yellow back then), dog bit my
nose because I bent down too close to his food, same cat I tripped over
had kittens under my brother's bed, walking up and down the Parkway
with my parents, being pulled by sled to the grocery store with by my
parents!

We partitioned off the kitchen from the living room
and added a second entry in the kitchen. We also added a sliding glass
door leading to the backyard. We started to add a second bathroom in
the basement, yet sadly, it never got completed before we left.

Sometime in the 1950s house was sided with asbestos
shingles. Also, Patrick HANNON renovated upstairs unit.
After Fedorzcaks owned 171 Lake Avenue a fence was set about 5 feet from the south property line so family could have access to the side door. |

During the 1950s and one of the hurricanes, a huge
maple tree that was on the north side of the house was blown down and
it fell across Somerville Place blocking the roadway. The tree stood
about where the current north extension is. The attached photos shows
the house during pre-1900 days- dirt road, no sidewalk.
